Chloé Dierckx Herstappe
This project took place in Herstappe, with its 30 houses and 80 inhabitants the smallest village in Belgium. During the first visit to the town, a statistical interpretation of the division of colours in specific categories was made. This division was compared to an ideal chart; when adding up all the colours of this chart, the result would be white. During one month, the colours of the village were changed so they would match the ideal devision.
On the final day, all the colours cancelled each other out. Everyone in the village wore the right clothes, everything was repainted in the right colour, flowers of the right colour planted, wrongly coloured flags brought down etc.
To celebrate, we had a meal together and made a walk through the village.
